Jochebed’s Children’s Home

Breaking the cycle of extreme poverty through education is one of the ways the seeds of hope are sown on the island of Nias. Young boys and girls from villages across the island, who are accepted through an application process, come to the capital city of Gunung Sitoli. Taking up residence in Jochebed’s Children’s Home, these children are given the opportunity of an education they would not receive if they stayed at home in their villages. The villages post a staggering rate of illiteracy. Education is the best way to break the cycle of poverty and hopelessness. Education also serves to overcome issues of human trafficking that are so rampant around the world. Parents, hungry to offer a better future for their children, are thankful for such a place as Jochebed’s Children’s Home.
